SUSS creates strong reciprocal partnerships with government agencies to jointly advance our missions and work that focus on community development and social change.
The State Courts are the primary courts of first instance in the Singapore judiciary, handling about 90 per cent of all judicial matters in Singapore, and 99 per cent of the criminal caseload. It comprises the District Courts, Magistrate’s Courts, and Tribunals. The District and Magistrates’ Courts exercise original criminal and civil jurisdiction with some designated as specialist courts including the Coroner’s Court, Community Court, Traffic Court, and Night Courts. The State Courts are committed to inspiring public trust and confidence through an effective and accessible justice system.
SUSS has signed a MOU with State Courts of Singapore to jointly develop and launch the Legal Clerkship Programme, which provides law students with practical training and applied learning. This partnership allows our Law Programme students to gain experiential knowledge of criminal law practice from a judicial perspective and provide them with the actual court environment to further their clinical legal education.
SUSS and State Courts of Singapore jointly developed and launched the Legal Clerkship Programme on 4 Nov 2019.
